If you haven’t yet heard about how the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act, which was just passed this year, will in effect force those small businesses that make goods for children out of business, then head over to here so you can find out more. There is a lot of info about this issue out there, but Cool Mom Picks has done a great job of putting a resource guide together.
This law will in effect force all small & indie businesses that make and sell goods for children out of business, since they cannot afford the tens of thousands of dollars to get each and every product they sell tested by a third-party lab. I know third party testing sounds like a good thing, but remember the problems we’ve had with toys lately have been with toys made by large corporations overseas, which will have no problem paying the third-party testing and then passing that cost onto you. Small toy makers have earned our trust by caring about the products they sell and their toys have not been a problem!
There needs to be some modifications made to the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act before it passes in February. I have already contacted my U.S. Representative and my Senators urging them to turn their attention to this matter. I ask you to read more about this issue, and if you come to the same conclusion as me, please do your part to help.
