Some things must be shared again…
I know I featured one of zelaya’s bags yesterday for Indie Style 101, but some things are wonderful enough to mention two times in one week.
A family business located in San Salvadore, Zelaya is actually a clothing and accessories line, but it’s the bags that have me hooked. Handmade from raw cotton fabric called manta, they feature hand embroidery with raw cotton thread, which adds the most stunning texture, and hard carved wooden handles.
Anyone who knows me knows that I have a thing for Central and Southern American art, design & craft. I realize that’s a huge area and a little like someone in Estonia saying they like everything made in the US, but there is a certain quality that seems to run throughout….simple, yet complicated…or at least those things that I like anyway. The bags from Zelaya have that quality.
