Here’s a Monday edition of the Weekly Fixx of stuff you might be interested in.

  • Amy from Pikaland shared 2 little tidbits with me: 1) The Etsy Virtual Labs recap of her event on Inspiring Creativity & 2) Her new Good to Know Project, which is a monthly read available as a printed zine that’s full of advice + inspiration from artists/illustrators/designers on creativity, business and life.
  • Also, Erin & Jaime from Bakery, wanted to pass around the word about an art auction going on to benefit cancer survivors through scholarships— there are tons of artists involved, including Jess Gonacha, Creative Thursday, Jennifer Ramos, Gemma Correll and more.
  • Last day to apply for the next Indie Fixx Galleria is April 22nd, Earth Day. The spots are on sale for $30!
  • Stay tuned for a super fabulous Earth Day giveaway later today!

Weekly Fixx: a roundup & wrapup of the week – March 13th

  • The Happily Handmade is looking for shops to participate in their Giveaway.  Could be a really good way to promote your indie biz right now. Check it out.
  • As a Jen myself, I am very into the Jen11 exhibit. More than a million of us were dubbed Jennifer within the span of just fifteen years, see some art from 11 of us. Very cool! I will certainly be pre-ordering the book.
  • I’ve always been a mender, my grandparents (children of the depression) taught me to not be wasteful, and now with the recession it’s even more important than ever to mend and make do with what we have. In that spirit the folks over at CRAFT have dubbed March Mending Month. Each day this month, you can learn how to stretch your dollars with techniques for mending, repairing, and keeping the stuff you already have looking good. Projects include techniques for patches, saving buttonholes, getting out stains in clothing, fixing a sofa cushion, repairing old dinnerware, and lots more. Just love this idea!
  • If you haven’t yet heard, Jena from Modish started a very neato kean project called Modish Biz Tips. Jena will be sharing tip and tricks on running your own successful indie biz. Looks like it’s going to be a fantastic resource, so make sure to head on over.
  • I’ve been meaning to tell you about Art Garage Sale, the new venue for indie artists. I see some familiar faces on there already, like Jessica Gonacha, and I’m interested to see where the site will go. Created with the idea that art isn’t only for the rich and also isn’t only something you find in a museum, it sounds like my kind of place.
  • I’d also like to tell you about the Cool Mom Picks Baby Shower Guide. As someone who always struggles with what to get for these things, I certainly appreciate their effort!
  • Tomorrow, March 15th, is the official last day of the Indie Fixx Shop.  I’m sorry to see it go, but I am looking forward to having more time for some other things in my life. Thank you all for your support!
  • Finally, I am still sick.  I’ve got the flu and it’s knocked me on my ass. It’s about all I can do to manage to write a post a day. If I owe you an order or an email, please be patient, I’m doing my best.
