I just found out that there will be a major music festival happening in my state. Now, for some of you that may not seem like a big deal, but this is not Austin or Seattle…it’s Delaware! We don’t even have a large enough city to call our own…our entire state population isn’t even 1,000,000. We don’t even have as many people as Rhode Island and they are the smallest state AND to just show off, they do have a major city.
There is no real musical, art or culture scene going on here in Delaware either. That’s why I head to Philadelphia or Baltimore all the time. So, the fact that there is a big music festival starting up in Delaware is amazing news.
The festival is called Firefly and this is its first year. They chose Dover, DE because it is centrally located among some major metropolitan areas and does have the space for a festival of this size. The lineup includes the following (not an inclusive list):
I’m planning on going for sure. Nothing like this happens in Delaware and I’m not going to pass it by.
I thought I would share some gig posters of some of the bands that I am looking forward to.

Matt Costa by Two Arms Inc | Young the Giant by Scott Campbell

Ra Ra Riot by El Jefe Design | The Black Keys by Methane Studios

The Flaming Lips by Only More Never Less | Cold War Kids from Brad Kayal

Every month I try to find a new artist created desktop calendar for my laptop…it’s my way of bringing a little art into my every day life. This month, I found this wallpaper on Oana Befort’s blog. Oana is a super talented graphic designer and illustrator and I am a fan of her work. I am honored to have her work gracing my screen!
If you aren’t yet familiar with Oana’s work, you should check out her portfolio. Here are some of my favorites.

I am honestly so happy that spring is here and I can now come out of my winter hibernation (although, I was not so much in hibernation as in winters of the past). I am often very inactive in the winter, I know it’s not good for me but my mind is usually not able to to overcome my body’s urge to sloth about on the couch under a blanket with a kitteh on my lap. Spring is the only thing that breaks the spell for me. Sunshine, warmer weather, green and gold on the landscape. Ah, my prescription for a healthier mind, body and soul.
And every spring, I remember the bittersweetness of the very first poem I ever memorized.
“Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”
-Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost

The mister and I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and visited Lewes and Rehobeth, DE. We were going to go to Pittsburgh, but decided to go to the beach instead….a much shorter drive for us.
We had a wonderfully lovely time and mostly spent it walking around Lewes, Rehobeth Beach and along the ocean and forest trails at Cape Henlopen State Park.
So, I might be going to Pittsburgh this weekend and I need to know:
1. where to stay?
2. where to eat and drink?
3. what to do?
I’ve been to Pittsburgh a couple of times, and I love it, but the last time was about 5 years ago so I definitely need some recommendations of the latest and greatest.

It’s been an extremely mild winter for a lot of us here on the US East Coast, and no surprise to most of us spring is here about one month early. I’m not complaining, just a little weirded out by the long-term implications and what the summer holds in store for us…
Yesterday was just beautiful and not one to squander a nice day, if I can help it, I was in and out taking pics of the signs of spring in my yard and home.
