After being on hiatus since March (with only one update since then from artist Lisa Solomen) I’ve decided to revive Feed Your Soul: the free art project and I’m looking for artists who want to contribute.
Who:
Over 110 + artists have contributed a free print that folks can download and print out for personal use. Previous contributors include: Ryan Berkley, Gemma Correll, Jessica Swift, Jen Oaks, Amy Ruppel + more.
What:
Since 2009, I’ve been sharing FREE ART with you from artists that I have invited to participate in the project. Each invited artist contributes a print that you can print out on some cardstock and frame or even just thumbtack to the wall.
Why:
Well, I love art and I know you do too. I also know that when people start to tighten up the purse strings they tend not spend money on things that aren’t necessary for survival, things like books, magazines and art. But, art is important for your soul. It helps rejuvenate, it’s thought-provoking, offers inspiration and can generally brighten an otherwise dreary day…among other things. In addition to helping to brighten your day, I want to help promote some of my favorites artists as well as art appreciation in general. I’m also hoping that the enjoyment of free art will lead more people to understand the importance of buying art from the artists themselves.
How:
If you are an artists and want to get involved, send me an email and I will take a look at your work. Work that is contributed to the Feed Your Soul Project should be something that you create just for the Project and should fit 8.5 x 11 inch paper to make it easy for art lovers to print it out themselves. It should also only be available on the Feed Your Soul site and not also for sale.
If you are an art lover and want to enjoy some of the already contributed art, just go here.
When:
I hope to resume sharing contributions in August. I’m shooting for 2 new downloads a month.

P.S. The artwork used above is available for download and was contributed by the lovely and talented Jessica Swift (née Gonacha).
So this is the start of my birthday week…I don’t celebrate my birthday for just one day, but usually for one week, and I’ve even been known to leave claim to the entire month of June as my own. I think it’s important to celebrate your birth and your life, that’s one thing I’ve learned over my ‘almost’ 4o years.
Another thing I’ve learned is that the best things in life (and even on birthdays) are free…a sentiment also enjoyed by artist Lisa Solomon. Lisa created a textual embroidery piece with just this very sentiment on it. She then scanned it in to share with you fine folks for the Feed Your Soul: the free art project and I’m sharing it with you today.
I know it’s been quite a long while since I’ve shared a Feed Your Soul free download with you (since March), but I am trying to revive the project. If you are an artist and would like to contribute to the project, send me and email and I will take a look at your work. Also, please feel free to suggest some artists that you would like me to invite to contribute to the project.
See Lisa’s contribution below and enjoy!

I love that we are now back on Daylight Savings Time (even if it means we lost an hour). The change means that spring and all the glory it brings will soon be upon us. Pretty soon the grass and trees will be green again and there will be FLOWERS!

Stephanie Fizer was one of the original Feed Your Soul: the free art project contributors back in 2009, and she is back again with another free art download for you to enjoy. This one is entitled “Tea Time” and it’s already hanging up in my bedroom. I’m a big fan of Stephanie’s work and own at least several prints from her….I’m off now to visit her shop and see if there’s anything that I need to add to my collection.

She enjoys vintage children’s illustration, pickles, striped stockings, and all things cute which is apparent in her illustrations. . .well except maybe the pickles. I am back! I lost last week to the “Illness of Doom” and wish I could get that time back, but not if it meant reliving that particulate strain of cold/flu/bronchitis. Yuck. I’m really pissed about missing out on the first really nice weather of the year too. Now that I am better enough to leave the house, it’s back to cold, grey winter weather. Great. But, I am glad to be feeling human again and caring about more than if I’m able to reach my cough syrup and ibuprofen.
I’m also really glad to be back sharing with you fine folks. I missed you terribly. Okay, that’s not necessarily true, but I did think about you while in the middle of my haze of sickness. That’s gotta count for something, right? I really did feel bad about neglecting you all last week and I vowed to make it up to you as soon as I got better.
In that vein, I am starting the week off with a Feed Your Soul: the free art project free art download. This one evokes spring & celebrations for me and I think it’s just what we both need. It’s from the artist Jaclyn Evalds. Enjoy!
If you are an artist and would like to contribute to the project, send me and email and I will take a look at your work.

Jaclyn Evalds – Jaclyn is an artist currently living and working in Portland, Oregon. A recent transplant from the East Coast, she recently left her job designing toys to focus on her art full time. She is inspired by folk art, antique photographs, nature, and vintage fabric patterns. You can find more of her work at her website and shop

Starting this week off with a Feed Your Soul: the free art project free art download for you all. This one is from illustrator Anna Wadham, and with so many of us in the U.S. under the threat of a huge snow/ice storm, it might be just the thing we need to keep the idea of an early spring alive in our imaginations.
If you are an artist and would like to contribute to the project, send me and email and I will take a look at your work.

Anna Wadham – Anna is an illustrator based in Norfolk, UK. She illustrates for greeting cards, books, homewares and magazines. Anna has Illustrated two picture books published by Child’s Play The Big Bad Bully Goat and Dingo Dog and the Billabong Storm. She prefers painting cats, rabbits, flowers and patterns.
