Crushing on tartan!

September 22, 2011

For me, autumn always evokes images of plaid and specifically of tartan. Honestly, I would probably never wear it (maybe a bag or a scarf) or use it in my home (beyond the odd throw), but for some reason I am draw to the pattern. When I think of it, it makes me feel warm and crisp at the same time and all cozy and reassured.

It also takes me back to when the mister and I were 1st dating when I was just 16. Now that I think of it, Mr. Indie Fixx used to wear a lot of plaid back in those days, so maybe that has something to do with all my fond feelings for it?!

Here’s a collection of tartan images that I discovered on Pinterest…if you aren’t yet pinning, why the hell not? It’s so much fun!

Back to School Guide 2011 – Varsity Edition

August 29, 2011

Well, I’m glad that’s over—Hurricane Irene, that is. I hope every one of you made it through the storm okay…yourselves, your families and your property. The Indie Fixx family is totally fine, if just still a little sleep deprived. I never want to have to go through a direct hit of a hurricane, and certainly not anything stronger than a Category 1, after going through that mere glancing we got. Ugh.

This week, there’s a different kind of event going on….it’s time for my annual Back to School Guide. Every year, I put together a Guide of all kinds of back to school goodies for students from preschoolers to college-aged  as well as those among us who still love buying back to school supplies even though we’ve been out of school for a long time.

Today’s edition is the Varsity Edition and features fun stuff for college kids, both to outfit themselves and their dorms.

1.clipboard bandolier from  Clever Hands 2. leather journal from Moon Bindery

3. Lousiana state pillow from Love Cali 4. e-reader cover from Moliop

5. e-reader case from Roque Theory 6. drawstring  backpack from Packs and Totes

Pink, a color study

August 04, 2011

I did not used to like pink when I was younger…I thought it was too girlie and I was more of a tomboy than a girlie girl. As I’ve gotten older my inner girlie girl has come out though and I like pink now. Not too much mind you, but a little bit of pink here and there can brighten up an outfit or make a room pop.  I’ve chosen some pink goodies that I’m crushing on from the Summertime Indie Fixx Galleria.

  1. Sugar N Spice Aprons
  2. {just.lovely.things}
  3. Miss Malaprop
  4. thunderpeep Designs
  5. OboroCharms
  6. IMOOI
  7. My Little Chickadee Creations
  8. Urban Fringe
  9. Small Bird
  10. Warped and Morewarped
  11. Black Lotus Design
