Last Saturday, October 3rd I attended the Crafty Bastard Arts & Crafts Fair in DC. After driving for 2 hours and getting lost (thanks to the great directions from google maps and to Robert, my fab navigator & friend) and taking off my wool socks (it was not 60 degrees after all, like I thought it would be, but closer to 80 degrees), I was ready to get out of the car and get exploring to find me some crafty bastards.

And I sure did. It was pretty crowded, so there were actually a lot of vendors I couldn’t even get in to see (some of them my friends and acquaintances), but here are some of my favorites from all the pics I took. Some of them are familiar old faces and some were new to me.

There are still a couple weeks left for the Summertime edition though, so I thought this week and next I’d share all the shops with you as well as feature some of their goods that I am liking. I will highlight 1/2 of the shops this and the other 1/2 next week.

I was recently lucky enough to try some samples of Haus of Gloi bath & body goods. Their motto is ‘ethereal bathing goods’ and boy they aren’t kidding. The Honey Tree Sugar Creme Emulsifying Scrub is especially heavenly and luscious. It’s a great exfoliant and smells just divine. I used mine every day just so I could smell it!

I also tried some Haus of Gloi soaps. Made using the cold-process (no soap bases) with natural ingredients like olive oil, coconut milk, clay, essential oils, herbs and skin-safe colorants they were perfectly okay for my sensitive skin. I really like the unique offerings as well. Like absinthe, which is made with soft mint, lemon balm & wormwood. And satyr, made with blood orange, black vanilla & charcoal.

I am what Mr. Indie Fixx calls a soap snob and Gloi soaps definitely pass the soap snob test. I will be buying some for sure.
