May Day is an ancient spring holiday celebrated in the northern hemisphere. It has its roots as a celebration of the beginning of the farming season and is celebrated in a variety of ways depending on location and culture.
In my neck of the woods, May Day is celebrated with a May Pole Dance and with a colonial celebration to commemorate our colonial history on the 1st Saturday in May. It’s called Old Dover Days and I’ve been attending since I was about 5-years-old. I’ve been taking my daughter since she was born, and even though she’s 20 now we still make a point of attending every year, if possible.
With May Day fast approaching, I thought I’d share some of these historical May Pole dance images from flickr.

So, today I am 100% better. No vertigo at all. Let’s hope I’ve seen the backside of that FOREVER!
I’m ready to get back to normal, back to work and back to my lovely home office. I do believe that I *need* some of these lovely paper/office themed goodies that I cam crushing on. sigh.

happy tape dispenser

Crazy talk, you here me? CRAZY talk! I need at lead 10,000 of these letterpress cards from Creativity.

A girl needs a tote to cart her papers and such around…from Anthro.

I love to stamp things….it makes me feel important. From Norajane.

And, I always need new notebooks and could be better than a fairy tale themed notebook? Not much, I tell you. From Hide N Seek.

I am feeling loads better today. Not 100% yet, but moving in the right direction for sure. I did feel well enough, and steady enough on my feet, to take a walk around the yard to check out the status of my plantings and do a little minor weeding. Like I pulled these clover from the front flower bed. Weeds, yes, but lovely enough to bring into the kitchen to brighten the sill. Who needs 4-leaf clovers with these beauties?

Sorry to have missed posting on Friday and on Monday, but I have not feeling well. At all. I went to the doctor yesterday and I learned that I something called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. It’s episodic, so it will go away, or at least it is supposed to. Besides vertigo, one can feel dizzy & light-headed as well as have a headache with this condition…I have it all. When I move my head certain ways, sit up, stand up, bend down or turn over in bed the vertigo feels like I’ve had 13 cocktails and then decided to go on the graviton. And I’m the kind of person who can’t go on the teacups let alone the graviton. It’s like extreme seasickness. It sucks.
Today was honestly the first day I’ve felt like being on the computer for any length of time. Here’s to hoping that this is a good sign and it’s going away. I would certainly like to get back to normal…both here at Indie Fixx and in my everyday life!
