i’m back at school

Today was my first day back at school in 13 years. I’m taking a couple of classes at the local University for personal enrichment, but also to test out the waters as well. I am thinking of going back to school for my Master’s degree or another undergraduate degree, but I’m not sure what I want to do. I’m taking some classes in the meantime to figure it out and to get back into the swing of things. Lucky for me, my husband works at the University so I can go to school tuition-free. I still need to pay registration fees and buy books, but tuition is completely covered. Seems a no-brainer that at least one of us would taking classes with that huge benefit, right?

So, what am I taking? Just 2 classes to start. They are: Economics and Film and American Society.

This is definitively outside my comfort zone, but that’s a good thing for me. What about you? Are you in school, headed back to school after a break or doing something else that’s outside your comfort zone?

I was desperately trying to coordinate starting back to school this semester as well. I’ve had an art degree for 10 years. Not a whole lot of art jobs here in town and I feel like I’ve been spinning my wheels for too long. I’d decided to go back and start in an ultrasound tech program. The science and math are intimidating!

I wish my tuition was free! Maybe I can get a job at a university to support my education habit…?

I went back for my Masters two years ago, and it’s the best thing I ever did. I love the whole thing, especially the people I’ve met and the work I’ve gotten done–I was never any good at teaching myself, at least not this intensively!

Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do wonderfully!
