I love it when you speak French…

A while back I wrote a post for Vintage Fashion London about Hubert de Givenchy for a ongoing series on historical fashion icons.  So far, I’ve written about Edith Head, Hubert de Givenchy and Halston (stay tuned for this post to appear sometime soon on the site). I’ve been having so much fun writing these posts about some of my favorite historical fashion superstars. I’ve been learning so much that I just want to share with you!

Facts about Givenchy that you might not have know.

  1. He was the designer of that gorgeous dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
  2. He actually considered Audrey Hepburn to be his muse.
  3. He worked for Christian Dior before starting his own line in 1952.
  4. Givenchy has credited the Spanish fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga, with whom he was actually friends,  as one of his inspirations.

Here are some lovely pictures I came across will browsing the interwebs…um, I mean while doing research.

Audrey Hepburn and Givenchy walking along the Seine with the Eiffel Tower in the background. LOVE this pic. {via We Heart Vintage}

The rest are images of Givenchy fashions from the years past.
