Fin de siècle inspiration

I am a big fan of the historical time periods, the Fin de siècle and the La Belle Époque ( think the movie Moulin Rouge from Baz Lurhman).   I think it begin when I was 9 years old and my uncle gave me a book on Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec…I’ve been smitten with his and his contemporaries artwork ever since.  Around the same time (9 or 10), I also saw the movie Gigi and that was probably what sealed the deal for me.  As I got older and got interested in history, I learned more and more about those time periods and I became utter fascinated with their art and culture.

If you are like me, then you will welcome these inspirational images.

  1. You should read “Sacre Bleu” by Christopher Moore. Toulouse- Lautrec has a starring role in this arty fiction! Good stuff. Thanks for the post.
