Stepping off the beaten path and outside your comfort zone

On Sunday, I went on my 3rd hike of the week. We visit a local nature preserve near our home that has 3500+ acres and over 37 miles of trails….it’s big enough to keep us busy pretty much year round. We did a lot of  off the trail hiking and discovered a hidden lean-to in the woods–a deer stand, I think for those times that hunting is allowed in the park–and it was a perfect place to eat our ginormous peaches from the local orchard. I pushed myself outside my comfort zone a bit and scaled a pretty steep hill to reach it and I’m actually quite proud of myself for doing that.  I did end up with a a bunch of deer ticks on me as a result and that part was not so awesome…but here’s to spending a lovely afternoon stepping off the beaten path. I can’t wait to do it again.
