taking chances and sketchbook delight

sketchbook delight art class with artist alisa burker

I just signed up for Alisa Burke’s Sketchbook Delight online art class. I’m not an artist, but I love doing arty things.  I can’t draw or sketch all that well, but I’m a firm believer that anyone can do both with practice. I’ve toyed around with the idea of taking some art classes at our local university (especially since I could go for free, as the mister works at our uni), but I feel like I might be a little overwhelmed. Alisa’s Sketchbook Delight class seems like the perfect way to get my feet wet.

If you are interested in signing up, the 5 week class doesn’t start until February 7th. The fee is $50. More info here.

I’m a little nervous about it, but one of my resolutions for this year is to take more chances…and that’s what I am gonna do! Thanks to Jan from Daisy Jainie for the nod.

  1. Thanks for this post, I received a new Sketchbook for Christmas and having been waiting to use it. So I signed up for the course I really want to improve my sketches. Your blog and all the Feed Your Soul artist are great inspiration 🙂

  2. Jen – I enjoy your blog! When I read this post, it immediately reminded me of a magnet I have on the “inspiration board” in my studio. “Do one thing everyday that scares you.” Bravo on taking that first step. Bet you’ll love it! I signed up for a local course in woodworking starting next month. Scary, me with power tools!!!

  3. Just catching up on my blog reading, and so, so happy to see that you signed up, Jen!!! Taking chances and learning some new skills along the way – can’t beat it! Happy New Year!

  4. this post reminds me of these books i am reading. Check of Creative Licenses, Everyday Matters, and Illustrated Life by Danny Gregory..fantastic books that I HIGHLY recommend!!

  5. Thanks so much for this!! I think I am going to sign up and challenge myself too!!
