DIY Embroidery Hoop Dreamcatcher

I have loved Native American culture since I was a little kid. I used to be especially interested in the history & culture of the Sioux and even subscribed to the newspaper from the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations in South Dakota for a time when I was in high school. Needless to say, I’ve usually always had a dreamcatcher in my house somewhere. Not so recently though and I think this DIY one by EveForeva might be a perfect replacement to fill that missing spot.

  1. I just have to smile at that. 🙂

It’s true it’s just like any other small town paper. We get the weekly that’s for our county (which the count and the reservation are the same land base) and it’s the same stuff – local politics, weather, high school sports. LOL 🙂

  2. I’m not sure what paper it was. It was like 20 years ago, but it was a joint paper between the 2 reservations. I think it was a weekly. I got it for about 6 months or so and was struck by how mundane the news was. I guess I was expecting more adventure, as I had romanticized Native American culture, but pretty much it seemed like my small town newspaper.

  3. I’m from Rosebud. 🙂 Which paper did you used to get? That’s so awesome. LOL

Great tutorial, and it should be noted that the dreamcatcher is traditionally an Ojibwa object.
