Friday post…

I know it’s been a light week of posts, but I’ve had a lot going on this week + in my blogging experience this is one of the slower weeks for traffic. I’m not sure why exactly.  Summer vacations are over for the most part and kids are back in school, so it seems like people would have more time to read blogs.  Whatever the case may be, I decided to hold back a little bit, but I promise you things will be back to normal next week.

So, in keeping in the spirit of the week, this post is going to be a little loosey-goosey. I’m gonna share a few things I’ve watched, listened to &  read lately that I’ve liked. I’m also going to share some photographs I curated around the theme of loneliness. Why? Just something that I’ve been thinking about lately, there’s something about this time of year that is evocative of loneliness for me.

But first, what I’ve been watching, listening to and reading lately….

  1. Chaplin – rewatched this the other night and forgot how much I a).  adore Charlie Chapin and 2). love how good Robert Downey Jr. was as Chaplin. Seriously watch this film. Also, watch Modern Times, The Kid and The Gold Rush if you haven’t already. Charlie Chaplin is a timelessly entertaining performer.
  2. Ham on Rye – Bukowski was a genius. Love everythign by him. Ham on Rye was just as raw & haunting, yet tender and insightful as Bukowski’s other novels. Cannot get enough Bukowski.
  3. Veronica Mars – why are all the good tv shows canceled? Is it wrong that a high-school girl detective is my hero? I loved the show when it was on and after re-watching all 3 seasons, I still really love that plucky girl detective. Hate how it ended though, which was really abruptly because obviously the writers had no idea that the show was going to be canceled.
  4. The Budos Band III – if you like instrumental soul, funk, jazz, than you will like The Budos Band. Think Ethiopiques, but with a twist and from Brooklyn. Number I & II are good too.

What about you? What have you been watching, listening to & reading? Anything good?

Now, here’s a curated collection of photographs on the theme of ‘Loneliness’

  1. I was watching Project Runway tonight, the only reality show I get addicted to. I really miss Veronica Mars, I should do a rewatch. With out VM and Gilmore Girls I feel like I don’t have any girly indulgences. Crime dramas are fun and all but…lack the romance.

  2. agreed with Chaplin, a great film with great performances. Also agreed as far as Veronica Mars. Such a terrible ending for such an awesome show. May have to rewatch that soon, after I finish rewatching Buffy!
