Back from vacation!

I am back from vacation today!  I sort of have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I am glad to be home and back to life as normal, but on the other hand, vacation life is so fun. It’s so great to just be in the moment and not to have to worry about that next thing on the to-do list.

Anyway, it was a great vacation. We rented a house on a lake in Lewes, Delaware, which was about 10 minutes to the ocean. For the first part our time there, we hung around the house. We went canoeing in the lake…I actually did not like the canoe, I am not a boat person at all!  We played some board games, I did some cross stitch (more to come on this), I also read some books (got a copy of Handmade Home: Simple Ways to Repurpose Old Materials into New Family Treasures by Amanda Blake Soule before I left), hula hooped (I still can’t do it after hours of trying) and more fun stuff.

I usually cooked breakfast every morning (cheesy eggs and peach pancakes, yum) at the house and we eat lunch there as well, unless we went to the beach.

When we did go to the beach, we preferred the beaches at Cape Henlopen, one of the best state parks I’ve ever been to. The beaches aren’t as crowded and they are more natural. We like to go to The Point at Cape Henlopen. That’s the hook on the cape and is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay.

It’s possible to watch the sun set over the water at The Point, something that isn’t common for us east coast USA folks.

When we weren’t at the beach or hanging out at the house, we soaked up some of the food and culture around Lewes and Rehoboth.  We ate out every single night we were there. One of our splurges for sure. Here’s a list of restaurants I can recommend:

Cafe Azafran
Agave Mexican Resturant
Kindle
Abstractions Shusibar
Dogfish Head Brew Pub

Porch dining at Cafe Azafran in Lewes.

Dogfish Head Brew Pub beer sampler. My favorite was the Chicory Stout.  We had many beers that night, Mr. Indie Fixx and I did!

We also had some fun riding rides and playing the games down at the Rehoboth Boardwalk.  The go-karts were awesome! Other than that though, the most intense ride I will go on are the Teacups.

The go-karts!

We are already looking towards planning next summer’s vacation!

If you’d like to see some more of my vacation pics (I’m going to stop sharing them here—I don’t want to be that person who invites everyone over for a night of vacation slides), you can see more on my flickr.

I want to thank my guest bloggers for helping to make this vacation possible. You are all such dearhearts!
