Monday’s Feed Your Soul free art downloads are up! Make sure to join the Feed Your Soul flickr group and share how you are using your free art downloads. I’d love to see them hanging in your home and I’m sure the contributing artists would too!
Tanya Newbery – Tanya is an independent artist located in Utah. She loves exploring and experimenting with a variety of materials. Children and their sense of wonder are often the catalyst for her creations. Many of her illustrations feature two little dreamers, or souls, running about in their pajamas. They are often featured gazing up to the sky. To learn and see more visit her Flickr, Blog and her Shops: Gumball Grenade & Fables and Foxes.
1. How do you describe your work?
Most of my illustrations begin as a pencil and charcoal drawings. Then I color them digitally. I also love working with watercolors and acrylics as well. In most of my Gumball Grenade illustrations you’ll find one or two little dreamers, or souls, running about in their pajamas. They are often gazing up to the sky. Their faces are rarely exposed as I hope it invites the viewer to place themselves into the perspective of the little dreamer. I hope my little characters stir up the childlike imagination of the viewer and take them back to the magical thinking that inspires so much of what children do and how and what they believe about the possibilities of life ahead. Art can trigger so much in a viewer. Hopefully mine allows the viewer to think, “I remember when I was little and dreamed of…”
2. What are your inspirations in your art and life?
I have degrees in Social Work and English Literature. I’m sure they have an underlying influence on how I see the world and what I create. I also take a great deal of my inspiration from my two little ones. They are at an age where make believe and imaginary play provide hours of entertainment for both them and me! Watching them grow and play triggers lots of great memories. Along with my children I get a great deal of inspiration from literature, music, and the independent art/ handmade/DIY community.
3. What do you do to help feed your soul?
I find I’m happiest when I’m making something, learning something, or teaching something.

Ana Raimundo – Ana is the Portuguese artist and illustrator of fric_de_mentol. She has a fine art degree which broadened her horizons of the artistic world. She was a tile painter for some years in a factory. That gave me some experience in the manufacturing process and in conducting a business. You can find her work in her shop, on her blog and on her flickr page.
1. How do you describe your work?
My work is essentially a representation of reality, my reality, or the expression of the everyday life, focusing mainly on nature and portraiture. It’s very colorful, ethereal and graphic with a characteristic form of communication.
2. What are your inspirations in your art and life?
Inspiration is everything in everywhere, in my art and life, mostly what my senses retain after meditation and reflection which then turns on to creation. My childhood memories also make part of that present inspiration as all my life.
3. What do you do to help feed your soul
I try to take pleasure of everything that surrounds me, I like to touch, smell and create things, always with music. I enjoy the pleasure of drinking tea while drawing my people and I love surfing the web. All of these feed my soul and my life.
