Wednesday Indie Artist Fixx with artgoodies and a giveaway!

For this Wednesday’s edition of Wednesday Indie Artist Fixx I am doing something a little different…I’m having a contest. I know fun, right? And, it’s a goodie too.

My interview is with Lisa Price from artgoodies and Lisa has generously donated three of her lovely block printed tea towels for a giveaway.

Three lucky winners will win one of the three designs pictured below.

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your plans for your tea towel should you win. Would you keep it for yourself or gift it, remember Mother’s Day is coming up after all.Ā  This giveaway will end Friday, April 17th at 11:59 pm EST. I will choose three random commenters and each will win one towel each. Open to international entrants.

Now on to my interview with Lisa.

1. What’s the name of your shop and what do you make?

The name of my shop is artgoodies. I make block printed housewares such as tea towels, aprons, and mini pillows.
Each item is hand printed with one of my original linocut block prints and the aprons and stuffies are sewn together with vintage fabric.

2. What’s your favorite thing about your studio or work space? Your least favorite?

My favorite is that it’s just down the steps into my basement so it’s a great commute! The studio is quite organized and very functional. The towel drying racks are awesome and can fold down flat to the wall making more room. I have it separated into work stations so you can usually find what you need and work very efficiently.

My least favorite thing is it gets real real cold in the winter. I am planning on getting another electrical box installed for baseboard heaters.

3. What do you listen to or watch while you work?

Lots of Cd’s generally, especially The Lucksmiths. I also frequently listen to NPR. I like all sorts of music, so you can hear a dollop of this and a pinch of that coming from my studio. Sometimes, I just sit quietly and work too.

4. What are some of your inspirations?

Vintage fabric of course! Nature, old plant, biology, and bird books, designs and colors of the fifties specifically vintage housewares. I actually have a vintage shop on etsy too, vintagegoodies. I just can’t resist vintage.

5. Anything you want to share? Doing any craft shows this season, have some new products coming out, or get a really big write-up in a national publication?

The latest news: A couple of my towels were featured in Home Beautiful Australia in the September issue. And some of my cupcake products will be in a movie that is currently being filmed!

6. What’s your favorite book from your childhood?

My favorite book was this little book called The Dollhouse. I used to stare at the little pictures looking at all the details of the house. It was so cute with it’s pinks, blues, and yellows. I guess I have always been a housewares kinda girl!

  1. Gorgeous! I’d love to keep one for myself, but I’d probably put it in my gift closet and then give it as a housewarming gift, wrapped around a pretty bowl filled with fruit or cookie mix or some such. Sweet giveaway!

  2. Pure selfishness: I’d keep it for myself and either turn it into a pillow or a pretty wall hanging. I wouldn’t want to risk getting it dirty in the kitchen!

  3. Beautiful designs! I’d love to keep a towel for myself, but my grandmother really needs cheering up and she absolutely loves butterflies. She’s stuck at home after a recent accident. I know having a pretty towel will make her smile.

  4. I’m going to be a bit selfish (I’m allowed to today! It’s my birthday…) and say I would keep the tea towel for myself. I would hang it on this hook in my kitchen that I hang aprons and an old fashioned colander. It is just too pretty to use!

  5. I don’t know if I could give it away!
I love the bright clean colours of these towels. They are gorgeous and I want one in every design, and then I could give away a few šŸ™‚

  6. They’re gorgeous! I would have to keep it. They are all perfect colors for my kitchen and remind me a bit of Chinese papercuts.

  7. Absolutely beautiful in their simplicity. Would love to add one to my collection! Love the butterflies.

  8. These are really pretty. Though since I live in a dorm and don’t really have much use for a kitchen towel, I would give it to my mother, who would absolutely love it!

  9. I could lie and say I would give the tea towel as a gift if I won it, but I wouldn’t. I’d keep it for me! We all need pretty things in our kitchens. šŸ™‚

    Thanks!

  10. Simply Gorgeous! Tea Towels can be sadly under-rated as an instant pick me up to any kitchen.
I know i would give one to my mum (or turn it into an apron if i was feeling creative)

  11. These are great!

I am getting married next month, and with everything that we are paying for, I’m afraid that I won’t have the extra cash to get something for my Maid of Honor. She is also getting married in August, and they are moving into their new house right after the wedding. I think this would be a great addition to her new kitchen! We are both graphic design artists, and I know she would appreciate these so much!

  12. Love this post and love the tea towels! I enjoy the blue whale print that I came across while poking around artgoodies etsy shop. I would save the tea towel, maybe wrap it or put it in a little box, and give it to myself as a housewarming gift when I move!

  13. well. i would keep it for me, of course. and it would hang lazily on my stainless steel stove accenting my kitchen. I would also despeately try to keep my husband, the chef, fraom wiping his mid-cooking hands on it, instead continuing to beseach him to use it WITH CLEAN HANDS ONLY. But you never know. It may have to see bleach one day.

  14. i love, love these towels…her stuff is all REALLY great! i think if i won a towel i would have to keep it for myself…who could part with such a treasure?

  15. Call me greedy, but I’d keep it for myself! I absolutely love butterflies and these tea towels are beautiful. Living with 3 boys in the house, I have to sneak in the occasional pretty item to remind myself that I live there too! Plus it inspires me to have handmade items around and motivates me to create my own things.

  16. I would give it to my mother for mother’s day. Then I would make her tea. Those prints are so cute!

  17. I adore tea towels because of their heavenly soft texture and the fun prints. They make splendid face towels too — again, because of the amazingly soft texture. This would make a lovely gift for Mother’s day!

  18. Whenever I go to my friend Andrea’s she NEVER has any towels. Since her birthday is coming up I would send one to her! Thanks! Beautiful items.

  19. Oh my goodness. I love that heart tea towel. It reminds me of a Brothers Grimm Fairytale somehow. I think if I won I would have to keep it for myself. Maybe I’ll put up a special hook of honour to hang it in my kitchen where everyone can enjoy its loveliness šŸ™‚

  20. Oh what a fun giveaway! If I should win, I would use this to either make an apron for my daughter or keep for myself! šŸ™‚

  21. oh, I love these towels. the prints are adorable! I think I would give the heart to my boyfriend. that his new appartment gets a cosy touch! šŸ˜€

  22. I’m living in Athens, Greece…far far away from my precious mother. It’s difficult for both of us to be so far away from each other, so I try to surround her with special gifts to remind her of how much I love her. Could I at least win the pity prize?

  23. This will be my first M-Day without my mom. So instead of her, I would give it to my father/sister – they still live in the same household – and I would buy one for myself, so we would have the same šŸ™‚
BTW, we have the simplest IKEA kitchen towel, and I would be so happy to have something very different šŸ™‚

  24. The towels are so fun! I think I would be tempted to keep it, but would probably give it away as a gift. My mom is moving, so maybe a nice housewarming gift?

  25. My mom would thrilled to own the heart print, she’s always be the girly girl all her life and I don’t know how many pink/red/heart stuff she collected, even her house always smells like strawberries.

  26. In all of my friend and family group – nobody has as pure a love for the tea towel as I. This is why I would absolutely keep the lovely art goodie for myself if I were to win. Besides, I’ve already got a great gift for my mother & sent something lovely to my sister as well….

  27. If I win, I will give the tea towel to my mom. I already made her Mother’s Day gift, but she does seem to have a shortage of cute kitchen towels.

  28. beautifully printed! i would gift the sweet towel as a little hostess gift- i have a good friend that would adore the butterflies, and i just thought of who i would gift the heart towel to… šŸ˜‰ thanks a bunch!

  29. i would love to keep it for myself, but my mother-in-law is coming to visit the week of mothers day and i’m a starving student right now – this would be perfect for her!

  30. My mom would never use them, so I would keep them as a Mother’s Day gift to myself. I’m a single mom and my son isn’t quite ready to pick a gift out himself. This would get him off the hook! And they are exactly what I’ve been looking for.

These are absolutely lovely designs. I adore the blue butterfly and owl.

  31. Lisa Price’s tea towels are beautiful. I would love to win either of the tea towels with the butterfly on it. I would use the tea towel Mother’s Day weekend as my Mom, my sweetie’s and his aunts are coming over for lunch, dessert and tea!

  32. I think I would keep it, as my mother would probably not appreciate a tea towel as a mother’s day gift. šŸ™‚

  33. i would keep it for myself, they are too beautiful to separate them from me !! šŸ™‚

i would use them for my monthly tea parties with my friends ..!

  34. So this may sound totally selfish, but I would keep it all for myself and use it everytime I needed to dry a dish because it is so pretty and I couldn’t bring myself to part with it.

  35. Hopefully this doesn’t affect my shot at winning but I would keep the towel for myself – the mother’s day gift is a good idea, but my mom is too old school when it comes to decorating! And I heart having a beautiful tea towel hanging on my kitchen island on wheels!

  36. Oh these are so nice! My best friend has a “Fiesta” kitchen all decorated in Fiestaware colors and pieces. One of these would be perfect for her and her birthday is coming up! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  37. As much as I don’t want to be selfish, I would keep the towel for myself because I am a complete and total tea lover. I know it would get lot’s of use and care!

  38. Well… normally I would totally give this to my mum for Mothers Day… but there are three good reasons as to why I won’t this year!

1.My mum promised to give me a bunch of tea towels months ago that she had purchased in a “Value” pack… and I still haven’t seen them to this day.

2.I am in need of some nice tea towels…I don’t think we’ve purchased any new ones since we bought our house 5 years ago (Ewww)

3.I know for a fact that my mum would love to dry the dishes with this cloth when she comes over to my house šŸ™‚

So I guess my plans for the tea towel would be to keep it all for myself… cause Gosh darn it! I deserve it!!!

ps- I really love the butterfly ones cause my name (Vanessa) means butterfly.

  39. Hey, I love your stuff. I would sooo use the towel and sew it into a pillow for my couch! well Hope all is well!!!

  40. I think these are so fun, that I would have to keep it all for myself!!! Love these!!

  41. oooh, the tea towels are GORGEOUS! i love everything shown, the cupcakes are fabulous too.

it would definitely depend on which tea towel i won. if it was the heart, it’s MINE! i love the design and the rich red!

but if it was one of the butterflies, i’d put it in the totebag i made my mom for mother’s day. i’m not sure if she’d want to keep it as a tea towel, since my dad is notoriously bad at ruining light coloured towels. it would be really pretty as the centre of a pillow too, so i’d offer to make her that if she wanted! the middle one looks like it’s a dark teal, which would match their living room perfectly!

  42. I would definitely send it to my mother for Mom’s Day. But then once I got it I might keep it for myself. She would understand.

  43. I will most definitely give it to my best friend, who just moved into a new place after a really hard 2008 (including the closing of her amazing candy store). šŸ™‚

    Thanks!

  44. I would use my tea towel for an excuse to have some girlfriends over for coffee and yummy baked goods!

Btw, I’m loving those little stuffed critters too!

  45. Hello!!
absolutely gorgeous tea towels, and what an amazing photo pouring the tea towel hehe!

    My plans for them?
Just moved out of home and I have ONE tea towel on rotation at the moment. Yes, it is terrible and I am doing way to much washing as a result!

The blue one is actually a perfect match for the colours in my kitchen! heheh

    Thanks, lovely work
    and lovely blog!

  46. These are fabulous!! I would love to hang one on my stove handle. I’d give one to my mother and the other one to a friend whose husband is going through some health issues!
