Guest Blog: Indie Calendars for 2009 by Michelle Engel Bencsko

While designing her own 2009 tea towel calendar,  Michelle Engel Bencsko had calendars on the brain, so she went out calendar hunting to see what other talented designers and artists were offering up. I’m glad she did and that she wanted to share her finds here!

Limited Edition – 2009 Tea Towel Wall Calendar by Michelle Engel Bencsko

Lately, I’ve been busy with my own calendar projects. It seems fitting that I do a guest post on the same topic has keep me occupied almost daily for the next few weeks. As an artist and seller, it’s heartwarming to know that my creation is happily placed in someone else’s home or bestowed upon another as a gift. Indie designers work hard to bring their creative ideas to fruition and to market and we’re delighted to offer these seasonal and practical products as a part of our everyday selection of wares. This year, with all that’s going on in the economic market, consider supporting an artist for that momentary daily glance at the date… and don’t be surprised if you find yourself more enraptured day by day by the personal touch of the artist from whom you’ve bought directly.

There’s all sorts to please nearly everyone’s taste: letterpress, graphic art, die cut, hand sewn, painted, screen printed, drawn, glued, bound! I could go on and on, but really, you should type “2009 calendars” into the search at Etsy and take a peek for yourselves. Here’s a sampling of some of the calendars I cam across.
