This week, I took a short vacation to the beach. We stayed at a B&B in Lewes, Delaware and went to the beach at Cape Henlopen. Cape Henlopen is a state park with a long history of being used as such; in fact, since 1682 when William Penn first declared the Cape to used for public use. During WWII, the land was used as a military base to spot enemy ships off the coast, but now it’s one of my favorite places to visit and one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to.
One of the things that I love to do when I visit Cape Henlopen is watch the deer that come out to feed at dusk. Since it’s a state park, there are lots of deer and they aren’t as weary of coming out of the woods in large groups. At dusk, you can will often find 30+ deer at the large meadow across from the Nature Center. Since I was a little girl, I’ve loved to go and watch them. I’ve also wished I could play with them…

What a lovely image. One of them is even nibbling on her hair!
