Make Your Own Fashion

The first featured designer from the September Sampler.

You know, if you regularly read my blog, that I have a thing for fabric bags. I can’t get enough of them. I am a vegetarian and I don’t like to purchase leather unnecessarily, so fabric bags allow me to realize my bag fetish while staying true to my ideals. Plus I am a rather a plain dresser—I prefer solids and like to kick it up a notch with my accessories and fabric bags are perfect because of the limitless fabric choices.

I think I could really add some accessory flair to some of my outfits this fall with the fall line from Holland Cox. Valerie Williams the designer of Holland Cox creates simple, yet stylishly elegant bags. I love the clean lines, unique silhouettes and the out of the ordinary fabrics. Valerie thinks that fashion is about being yourself while looking fabulous and not about looking like everybody else. I would have to agree with her and if you do too, head on over to Holland Cox and make your own fashion.

  1. I guess it would more correct for me to say I don’t like to purchase what I think are frivolous leather products. I do purchase leather shoes, not so I can have the latest Manolo’s, but b/c I am on my feet a lot at my day job and I have a high arch. I have tried non-leather alternatives, but have found that they are not as forgiving to my feet. I don’t like to purchase products made from leather that I can either live without or find alternatives for. There is a whole world of cute non-leather goods out there. Shoes are hard though…

  2. Thanks so much for this review! I’ve been curious about HC’s bag’s for awhile, and it’s nice to get a review from someone who knows their stuff!

On another note..I’m curious though….do you ever find it truly necessary to purchase leather? I know that’s an odd question, but you mentioned disliking purchasing leather unecessarily, and I was wondering if you’ve ever had to buy a product that only came in leather? (I’m curious because I’m constantly trying to find animal-friendly alternatives to leather products in my own little world. I’ve been doing so with shoes for a few years now, and it’s really quite difficult.)

  3. I can attest to the wonderful goodness of Holland Cox bags, being an owner of two of them! Not only is Valerie a great designer, with a good eye for color, but the bags themselves are soooo well-crafted! They are just awesome!

I adore fabric bags, too, and have bought bags from a couple of indie designers. But Holland Cox is definitely one of my favorites. Which is why I bought a second bag from her! 🙂
